Karima Ben Otman
Born in London in 1972 to Lybian Jordanian parents, I have been fortunate enough to have experienced cultural diversity from a young age and till now, living in different countries throughout my life. These cultural experiences have enriched my worldview and greatly influenced my art.
I graduated with a degree in Fine Arts Painting in 1998 from Brera, The Academy of Fine Art in Milan, Italy. Following graduation, I went on to live and work as a professional artist in Italy, Jordan, England, France, Cyprus, Sweden and most recently Greece; creating and exhibiting artworks both locally and internationally.
Influences from my Arabian origins, Western education and constant travels have inspired me to develop an artistic style of my own. My work has been referred to as a “new school of art,” Jordan Times 1999.
From 2013 to date my Artwork has been a part of the art curriculum in both public and private schools across Cyprus. You can see my work on permanent display at the Loukia-Michael Zampelas Art Museum in Nicosia, Cyprus, as well as The Jordan National Gallery of Fine Art in Amman, Jordan.
Most recently I have been appointed as an Art Ambassador for Peace by the International Peace Institute (IPI) Mena in collaboration with the Women in Art for Peace Initiative.
